WASHING TECHNIQUES

HOW CAN I WASH MY CAR MYSELF?

For best results, it is recommended to wash the car once or twice a week to prevent excessive soiling. Washing your car without scratches is best done using the 2-bucket method. Avoid automated car washes, hand car wash brushes and detergents with a high pH content. Avoid washing in direct sunlight to minimize streaking and water spots.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR CAR COATED?

After installing a                                  , you should avoid friction, water contact and chemicals as much as possible during the first 7 days. After this period of 7 days you can give the car the first wash without any problems.

MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS

The products and accessories below are always available on Amazon website. We also offer an annual maintenance treatment for every treated car. This annual maintenance treatment restores the water-repellent properties of the coating(s). If you have any questions or are interested in our products and/or services, please feel free to contact us.

Step 1: Clean rims and tires

Spray a rim cleaner on the rims and let the product take effect according to the manufacturer's instructions (always let the rim cool down first!). In the meantime, spray an All Purpose Cleaner (APC) or tire cleaner on the tires and scrub them clean. Then you clean the entire rim, starting with the inside. Use a safe rim brush, detail brush and/or wash glove for this. We prefer to always use the rim brush and washing glove in a separate bucket with shampoo water. After cleaning, immediately spray the rim thoroughly.

Recommended products:

  •                                - Removes brake dust and flash rust

  •                                  - All Purpose Cleaner for cleaning the tyres

  •                                - Safe, woolen wheel brushes

  •                                   – Rim brush (ideal for multi-spoke rims or tight spaces like the brake calipers)

Step 2: Prewash / Snowfoam

Spray the entire car with the high-pressure cleaner to remove as much loose dirt as possible. Then spray the car with a snow foam product and cannon. Let this product work for 3-5 minutes and then spray it off completely. This product partially loosens the dust and dirt from the paintwork and reduces the risk of scratches during washing.

Recommended products:

  •                                 - Best car shampoo and snowfoam (pH neutral)

  •                                                          – Foaming the car (prewash)

Step 3: Wash

Use 2 buckets and fill one with shampoo water and the other with clear rinse water. Do not use detergent! Make sure you have enough foam in the shampoo bucket, if necessary spray directly into the bucket with the high-pressure lance. Take a wash mitt and dip it in the shampoo water. Start with the roof of the car and only work in straight lines (no circles). Rinse the washing glove in the clear water in good time. Do not put too much pressure on the wash mitt, but let it do the work itself. Wash the lower parts of the car last and use a second wash mitt if necessary. Then you spray the entire car thoroughly.

Recommended products:

  •                                                                            - It is best to use 2 buckets (one with shampoo and one with rinse water). The grid separates the dirt from the water.

  •                                 – Best car shampoo (pH neutral)

  •                                      – Microfiber or wool wash mitt

Step 4: Drying

Step 4: Drying Use a plush microfiber cloth to dry the car. Rub the car dry without applying pressure, let the cloth absorb the water. Use another microfiber cloth to dry the door jambs. If you have compressed air or a blower, you can use it to blow the corners and crevices (mirrors, grill, etc.) dry.

Recommended products:

  •                                                                                          - Large, safe microfiber drying towel

Step 5: Finishing

Apply a spray sealant after every wash. This is the finishing touch with which you can remove any stains and water droplets, giving the car extra shine. This is also a necessary step for the maintenance of the coating.

Recommended products:

  •                                - Quick Detail Spray

  •                                   – Spray Sealant, essential for coating maintenance

MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS

In addition to washing the car correctly, we also recommend regular (or where necessary) use of the products below.

After washing the car, you can apply Reload to both a wet and dry car and then work it in with 2 microfiber cloths. Reload offers a smooth super hydrophobic layer, which repels water like no other. Combined with the ability to repel dirt and grime, this leaves a stunning, glossy and highly reflective shine. Reload is essential for the maintenance of a ceramic coating and will improve its life.

ENHANCE HYDROPHOBIC PROPERTIES

Do you want to strengthen the water and dirt-repellent properties? Then it is recommended to spray the (still wet) car with CARPRO HydrO2Lite or HydrO2 Foam after washing. Both products provide a super hydrophobic effect and in some cases are beneficial to enhance the hydrophobic properties (recommended for the lower parts of the car). The products work according to the simple “spray on, rinse off” rule and can therefore be applied very quickly. Also highly recommended for protecting rims, you can protect an entire rim in just a few seconds!

Disinfect the surface with CARPRO IronX & TarX 1 to 2 times a year. Only use these products on a clean, washed car. CARPRO IronX's advanced pH balanced formula safely breaks down metal contaminants caused by car brakes, rail dust and similar iron contaminants. It can be used on paint, plastic, chrome, glass and alloy wheels. The reactive component in Iron X dissolves the iron particles (turns purple) so that they can then be rinsed off (after 3-5 minutes).

It is usually not necessary to spray the entire car with CARPRO TarX, only the underside of the car is sufficient. Simply spray on TarX, possibly work it in lightly with, for example, a microfiber cloth and voilà, the hydrophobic properties are restored!

Do not use Iron X and Tar X in direct sunlight and never allow the products to dry.

REMOVING LIME AND WATER STAINS

CARPRO Spotless chemically breaks down the mineral deposits left behind by water droplets (known as “water spots”) before they can etch into the finish, eliminating the need for time-consuming polishing correction and extending the life of the paint. If left unkempt, water stains can cause permanent damage to the car's paint. Spotless' proprietary blend of carefully balanced mild acids safely removes heavy mineral deposits from most vehicle surfaces.
